ITTC PARALYMPIC SELECTION CRITERIA
FOR SYDNEY 2000

1. Selection Criteria (Class 1-10)

(i) 30% of players will be selected according to the results of the following 4 regional Championships:
  • European Championships Piestany, Slovakia (8 - 14 July, 1999)
  • FESPIC Championships Taipei, Taiwan (1 - 8 September, 1999)
  • African/Middle East Championships - Durban, South Africa (29 September - 3 October 1999)
  • Pan American Games - Mexico City, Mexico (6 - 14 November, 1999)
(ii) 60% of players will be selected from the best players having the highest point in the ITTC World Ranking list as of 1 January, 2000 [not including players selected under (i)].
(iii) 10% of players will be selected through Wild Cards or Team Target Players who must be included in the ITTC World ranking list at 1 January, 2000 and have an International Classification Card [not including players selected under 1 (i) or 1 (ii)].

2. Selection Criteria (Class 11)

(i) 30% of players will be selected according to the results of the same qualifying Championships for Class 1-10.
(ii) 65% of players will be selected from the best players having the highest score in the (ITTC World Ranking list at 1 January, 2000 [not including players selected under 2 (i)].
(iii) 5% of players will be invited through Wild Cards who must be included on the ITTC World Ranking list at 1 January, 2000 [not including players selected under 2 (i) or 2 (ii)].

3. Wild Cards Team Target Players

(i) ITTC will advice NPC’s (National Paralympic Committees) of available slots for Wild Cards and Team Target Players by no later than 15 January, 2000.
(ii) NPC’s will be required to apply to ITTC to take up slots no later than 15 February.
(iii) ITTC will finalize Wild Cards Team Target Players slots by no later than 29 February, 2000.
